Recommended Approach to Ministry

Do all to the Glory of God

NASB-U 1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Make Loving God your Motivation and your Motif
The Greatest Commandment and the Second: Love

NKJV Matthew 22:36-40  Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”  37 Jesus said to him, ” ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’  38 “This is the first and great commandment.  39 “And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’  40 “On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

Love here is agapao, which means “to have a preference for, wish well to, or regard the welfare of someone or something.” (Thayer) It is a reasoned out love, based upon admiration, veneration, or esteem, rather than an emotionally prompted love, which is not to say it is devoid of emotion, but it is not emotionally based.

Love others by Loving God

Loving God is primary and loving others comes from that.

NKJV Romans 5:5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us

As born again believers in Christ the love of God is poured out in our hearts. It surely has to be poured in before it can be poured out. Its pouring out is perhaps like an overflowing, or bubbling over. Hence our loving God leads to our loving others.

Loving God is edifying, not only of others, but first of ourselves.

NKJV 1 Corinthians 8:1, 3…..Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies……. 3 But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.
